About Us

Elite Athletic Center is a unique martial arts and fitness studio, where all trainings provided based on traditional martial arts concepts combined with modern principals of training and fitness. Despite of the fact that Elite Athletic Center is only 3 year old, but was already nominated as best in Queens Borough martial arts center.

Djabrail Moukhtarov is a founder and chief instructor of Elite Athletic Center was born in October 7, 1974 in Baku, Azerbaijan. His athletic experience started at his early ages. Starting age 6, he was practicing gymnastics. From age 9 to 15 did swimming and was a member of national junior Olympic team of Azerbaijan from 1983 to 1989.

At the age of 16 he started his karate journey, and as he says: “this is the most amazing, educational and unforgettable experience.”

At the age 17 he became a national champion of Azerbaijan in kata and a kumite division, received his shodan (first degree black belt) from Hitoshi Kasuya, and was invited to be a part of national team of Azerbaijan.

Since 1991 to 1997 he was a member national karate team of Azerbaijan and defended his title 6 times.

As a member of national team he competed in many international, European, and World championships.

In 1993 he received his Nidan (second degree black belt) from Kancho Hirokazu Kanazawa and won first international karate championship held in Azerbaijan.

In 1994 competed in “Bosfor Bogazi” international karate championship in Istanbul Turkey and became 3rd in kata and 2nd in kumite.

In 1995 became an Eastern European champion in Moscow, Russia at W.S.K.F (World Shotokan Karate Federation) championship, under sensei Hitoshi Kasuya.

In 1996 competed in World karate championship in Tokyo, Japan and became first in team kumite, and 3rd in individual kata divisions.

In 1997 received his Sandan (third degree black belt) from Kancho Hirokazu Kanazawa in Tokyo, Japan.

In 1997 competed in the “Battle of Bushido: championship in New York and became 2nd in kumite and first in kata divisions.

In 2000 competed in “Big Apple Challenge” competition in New York and became 1st in kata and 3rd in kumite.

In 2003 competed in the USA National Karate Championships and Team Trials and became 2nd in team kumite.

In 2009 received his Yondan (forth degree black belt) from Kancho Hirokazu Kanazawa

From 2004 to 2010 was teaching karate at local gym in Queens, New York.

In 2011 he established his own karate school Elite Athletic Center.

Currently Djabrail Moukhtarov is a sensei at Elite Athletic Center which is a recognized branch of USANKF (United States of America National Karate Federation), S.K.I.F (Shotokan Karate International Federation), and W.K.F (World Karate Federation).
